Chümoukedima, APRIL 11 (MExN): The World Homoeopathy Day 2025 was observed on April 10 at Angh Hall, Agri-Expo, Chümoukedima to commemorate the 270th birth anniversary of Dr Samuel Hahnemann, founder of Homoeopathy. The theme for this year’s observance was “Education, Teaching, and Research.”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Orentsani Kikon, Medical Officer (AYUSH), Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima (NHAK), highlighted the significance of the day, stating that it aimed to spread awareness about the practices and benefits of Homoeopathy and recognise its contributions to the healthcare system.
She informed that Homoeopathy is an alternative medical practice based on the principle of “like cures like,” using natural substances to stimulate the body’s healing process. She also spoke on its holistic approach, cost-effectiveness, and minimal side effects when administered by qualified practitioners.
She further stated that in India, traditional systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy are collectively managed under AYUSH.
Short speeches were also delivered by Dr Temsu Lkr, Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur; Dr Akuo Sorhie, Retired Mission Director, NAM; and Raghu from CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat, Assam.
A cake-cutting ceremony marked the celebration, and free medicinal plant saplings were distributed to participants, stated a press release from IEC Bureau, Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur.
