WSRPU, SYO condemn NFHRCC’s remarks on R&B Minister

DIMAPUR, MARCH 2 (MExN): The Western Satoi Range Public Union (WSRPU) and the Sumi Youth Organization (SYO) have strongly criticized the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) over its remarks against Nagaland Public Works Department (R&B) Minister G. Kaito Aye.

In separate statements, both organizations condemned what they described as defamatory and misleading allegations aimed at discrediting the minister. The NFHRCC had claimed that Aye was "not capable to understand the concept of the Foothills Road till date" and urged the Chief Minister to "educate the minister in-charge through all means."

The WSRPU, in its response, said the accusations were an attempt to tarnish the reputation of a senior legislator who has served seven consecutive terms in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. It defended Aye’s role in infrastructure development, particularly the Foothill Road Project, and asserted that the NFHRCC failed to recognize the legal and administrative protocols involved in project execution. The union demanded a public apology and retraction of the statements, warning against further "baseless attacks."

Similarly, the SYO criticized the NFHRCC’s remarks as “irresponsible” and lacking in analytical depth, arguing that such statements were neither in the public interest nor made in good faith. While acknowledging the NFHRCC’s role in ensuring adherence to the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Foothill Road, the youth organization urged the committee to exercise caution in its public statements to avoid undermining the reputation of an elected leader.
