Youths uninterested in taking skill-based trainings, says MLA Jakhalu

MLA and Advisor for Industries & Commerce Hekani Jakhalu on January 11 said that many youngsters are uninterested in undertaking skill-based trainings initiated by the government of Nagaland, adding that everyone wants an easy-handed government jobs.

Speaking as the guest of honour of the 42nd AASU biennial conference held at Pimla village, Jakhalu regretted that the youths do not want to put effort in skill-based works but come running when offered a government job.

Maintaining that the government is sincerely working for the youths, she encouraged the youths to embolden themselves and take up trainings that will sustain life and build a career for them at the same time.

“There is no alternative to hard work; we have to sweat to achieve what we truly desire,” she said, adding that one has no excuse if one is not performing.

Likewise, she asserted that the government is always there for the students, and encouraged them to call up on her and the government for assistance in trainings.

“You have to know who you are and what your strength is; make it a commitment to learn and master one new skill this year,” Jakhalu said while encouraging the students to be committed with themselves.

At the same time, the advisor cautioned the elders that the youth will lose their way if not properly guided, adding that the elders must be the one to pave the way for the youngsters.

Sharing her experience working with YouthNet for a period of 16 years, she maintained that those who were really committed and focused in their works have found success and has now gone up and beyond in life, while also sharing that those who were lazy and uninterested in their works  have vanished.

Furthermore, she called upon the students to be creative and adventurous in life, stating, “there is so much possibilities in life if we put our much and efforts to it.”

She concluded by congratulating the AASU for successfully organising the 42nd Biennial Conference and wished the congregation a very happy and successful year ahead.
