Zunheboto, September 26 (DIPR): The 7th Zunheboto Inter-departmental tournament got underway at Indoor stadium on September 26 with Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources and Sports and Music Task Force, Khekaho Assumi as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest expressed happiness on being part of the tournament and said this was a good opportunity for all the departments to meet not just for sports but to know the problems of the district and see how we can develop and bring about a change for better Zunheboto. He also informed that a proposal for construction of a mega stadium in Zunheboto has been initiated and encouraged the Sumi apex bodies to support the district legislators for better coordination.
Khekaho also encouraged all the 35 participating departments to do something for the district in their own capacities so as to move forward with common goal and vision. The Parliamentary Secretary also inspected the pathetic local ground and District Sports Office and assured to look into the matter on priority.
Earlier, the oath taking was administered by Dennis Awomi. The tournament is being organized by District Sports Council Zunheboto(DSCZ) and 35 departments are competing in Badminton- Men's Singles, Men’s Doubles and Women's Double and Carrom.
