Zeliang Students’ Union (ZLSU) officially flagged off its “native village visitation” programme on April 7.
Dimapur, April 8 (MExN): The Zeliang Students’ Union (ZLSU) officially flagged off its “native village visitation” programme under the theme Uniting ‘Roots, Igniting Future,’ aimed at the communities of the Zeliang tribe in Nagaland on April 7.
In his address, President Adv Roland highlighted that the programme aims at understanding the ground realities of local schools in the village, raising awareness about the use of the RTI Act, promoting forest conservation, and strengthening the community and cultural bonds that unite us as Zeliang.
Through this visit, the union believes it can better understand the ground realities faced by underprivileged students in local schools, which will enable the union to raise these concerns to the higher authorities, it stated.
Rev D Haisuang, Pastor of Zeme Baptist Church, Jalukie Town dedicated the ZLSU lottery, a fundraising initiative to support the union.
Akuna, Joint Secretary, Nagaland Zeliang People Organization; Kairi Nkhapuinah, Pastor of Liangmai Baptist Church, Jalukie Town; and Akusi, President of Jalukie Town Youth Organisation also spoke during the event.
