Zunheboto | November 3
The Zunheboto Range Students’ Union (ZRSU) has imposed evening curfew restrictions on students within Zunheboto town, directing them to return to their respective homes, hostels or other places of residence by 6:30 pm in view of the forthcoming final examinations.
In an official circular issued on November 3, the Union said the restrictions were aimed at ensuring a peaceful, disciplined and conducive academic environment, allowing students to concentrate on their examination preparations.
Under the directive, students have been prohibited from roaming, loitering or gathering unnecessarily at public places, marketplaces, streets, parks, commercial areas and other locations within the town after 6:30 pm. They have also been advised to avoid unnecessary gatherings and utilise their evenings for revision, self-study and adequate rest.
ZRSU General Secretary Tonoka V Zhimomi said the curfew was intended to give students sufficient time for focused preparation and help them maintain a disciplined study routine ahead of their examinations.
He added that regular checks would be conducted to ensure compliance with the prescribed timings. Students found violating the curfew would be reported to the concerned School Management Board for appropriate disciplinary action, he said.
The Union has called upon parents and guardians to ensure that their wards comply with the instructions and remain indoors after the prescribed time. Students have also been directed to cooperate with educational institutions, hostel wardens, concerned authorities and law enforcement personnel.
Exceptions have been made for unavoidable movement arising from medical emergencies or other genuine exigencies, provided valid reasons are communicated to the concerned authorities.
The circular cautioned that violations may invite appropriate action in accordance with applicable rules and instructions issued by the competent authority.
The restrictions have come into force with immediate effect and will remain in place until the completion of the final examinations or until further orders. The Union has sought the cooperation of students, parents, educational institutions and other stakeholders in implementing the directive.
