Kohima | May 3 : One person suffered head injury when a strong storm accompanied by wind and rain uprooted a giant tree at the DTO (exchange) BSNL office opposite head post office here at around 5:00 pm.
The injured person was identified as one Golapi Singh, an employee of BSNL who was at home when the tree hit the house where he was present damaging many properties. He was rushed to nearest hospital Oking Hospital. Reports from Khonoma village said the storm destroyed around 50 houses but the property worth damaged is yet to be ascertained at the time of filling this report. Other reports from Kohima mentioned about how the heavy downpour led to flooding in many areas. Several houses in Lower Chandmari were affected as water levels rose due to flooding.
