Kiphire, November 4 (MExN): A motivational talk at Loyola Higher Secondary School (LHSS), Kiphire, on November 4 emphasised smart study techniques, conceptual understanding, regular revision and disciplined preparation for the upcoming Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) HSLC and HSSLC examinations.

A total of 290 Class 10 and 12 students attended the programme held under the theme “Dream Big, Study Smart, Work Hard and Achieve Excellence”.

According to a press release from the school, resource person Rev Fr Thomas Toretkiu urged students to set a target of 90% marks and adopt the motto, “90% Is My Goal — Discipline Is My Path — Success Will Be My Reward.”

With approximately 90 days remaining before the examinations, based on the usual NBSE schedule, he stressed the need for timely preparation and consistent effort rather than last-minute studying.

Fr Toretkiu advised students to prepare a structured study timetable and prioritise conceptual clarity over rote learning. He emphasised regular practice for Mathematics and Science, while recommending consistent reading and writing to strengthen English and other language skills.

Describing revision as essential to retaining what students learn, he encouraged them to revise frequently, practise previous years’ question papers and maintain a distraction-free study environment. He also highlighted the importance of good health, discipline, determination and hard work in examination preparation.

He further reminded students of the sacrifices made by their parents and families to support their education, urging them to remain committed to their studies and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

The programme began with a welcome address and prayer by school principal Rev Fr Philip Magh, who encouraged students to pay attention to the guidance provided. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the school captain, followed by concluding remarks and a prayer by the principal.
