The Asia Evangelistic Fellowship International (AEFI) celebrated its golden jubilee in Nagaland by adding a dozen non-Christians into the Christian fold. The celebration-cum-service was held here at Hotel Saramati Monday afternoon with prominent Naga businessman Hokato Naga as chief guest, DC Dimapur Maongwati Aier as guest of honour and AEFI director Rev. Dr. Jonathan James delivering the main message.
Director AEF (North-East India), Rev. Kaifa Ezung in his welcome address and introduction informed the gathering that coinciding with the AEFI golden jubilee and 10th anniversary of AEF NEI, twelve non-Christians from Nagaon, Assam, were earlier baptized during the day at Chathe River.
The AEFI director in his ‘Message of challenge’ said AEFI started in a hospital bed in 1960, when AEFI founder, late Dr. GD James (father of Rev. Jonathan James) was recuperating from a heart attack. Rev Jonathan said that while his father was in the hospital bed, God challenged the latter by asking him how many people he can train to spread the Gospel.
Late Dr. James took the challenge and in fifty years, AEFI had spread its wings to nine countries, trained hundreds of Asian leaders and saved thousands of souls, the AEFI director said. Expressing happiness over celebration of 50 years of God’s faithfulness, Rev Jonathan said that the jubilee is also a time to look into the unfinished task in Asia, that of saving the souls of millions of Asians untouched by the Gospel.
The chief guest in brief address shared his mission experience including his sharing in Bangladesh and said that of late he had come to realize that a preacher or any person who wants to preach the word of God must first be filed with the Holy Spirit.
The businessman also gave his personal testimony and said that a person, however rich or privileged he may be, will never find happiness or fulfillment till he finds God.
DC Dimapur also gave a testimony of his miraculous recovery from two consecutive heart attacks and said that it was only due to God’s abundant grace and mercy that he was given an “extended life.”
“This life (extended) does not belong to me. I dedicate it fully to the Lord,” Maongwati declared.
He also said that a couple of non-Christians embraced Lord Jesus after hearing about his miraculous recovery.
Lotha Baptist Church pastor Rev. Zanao Muzhui offered invocation, LBCD associate pastor Rev. Chumben Kyong prayed for the offering and DABA pastor Rev. N Tzudir pronounced benediction.
