Imphal, April 26 (NNN): The Imphal-Dimapur stretch of National Highway 39 was disrupted between Mantripukhri and Koirengei for several hours today following an agitation over the death of a missing woman. A 34-year-old Leishangthem Roma had gone for Cheiraoba (Meitei New Year) shopping on April 3 but never returned home since. On April 21 her lifeless body was found in a local canal in suspicious circumstances suggesting that she had been raped and mugged by the assailant before killing her in cold blood.
Meanwhile, a sit-in protest to condemn the act of killing of Roma was staged today jointly by local residents of Khabam, Achanbingei, Luwangsangbam, Lamlongei, Ahallup, Matai and Mantripukhri with support from local clubs at Mantripukhri bazaar.
