The Assam Rifles organised an Ex-Servicemen Outreach Drive at Khonsa and Jairampur on July 17 and 18.

KHONSA, JULY 20 (MExN): In a continued effort to strengthen its engagement with veterans, the Assam Rifles organised an Ex-Servicemen Outreach Drive at Khonsa and Jairampur on July 17 and 18, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of former service personnel.
The event saw the participation of over 273 ex-servicemen (ESM) from the Assam Rifles and Indian Army, representing Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts. The outreach initiative focused on addressing a wide range of veteran welfare concerns, including grievances related to disability pensions, pay revision and lump sum benefits.

Efforts were made to offer clarity and assistance on these matters, enhancing support mechanisms for the ex-servicemen community. A significant milestone of the drive was the successful enrolment of all previously unregistered next of kin (NoKs) of Assam Rifles personnel at the ARESA Centre, thereby ensuring their access to existing veteran welfare schemes.
Healthcare support was a key component of the programme, with medical check-ups and free medicines provided to veterans in need. To improve access to services and streamline grievance redressal, the participants were registered on the Sampark Setu mobile application, designed to enhance connectivity with support facilities.
The event was graced by Veer Nari Chasan Dada, wife of Havildar Hangpan Dada, Ashok Chakra (Posthumous), whose presence inspired attendees. Cultural performances were also held as part of the programme, celebrating the spirit of service and camaraderie.
