Assam Rifles organises interactive event for students in Mon

Students of Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India- Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mon on December 28.

Kohima, December 28 (MExN): Assam Rifles organised an interactive event titled ‘A Day with Company Commander’ at Wakching in Mon District of Nagaland under the theme “Christmas Celebrations.” The event was attended by teachers, staff members, local representatives, students from Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India-  Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mon and youths from Wakching village. 

The initiative aimed to foster community engagement, promote awareness and inspire young minds through meaningful interaction with dedicated Assam Rifles personnel. The programme commenced with a Christmas cake cutting ceremony followed by a brief address highlighting the message and spirit of Christmas. 

The Company Commander interacted with the students and local youth and extended warm wishes on the occasion of Christmas and the upcoming New Year. 

Students and youth showcased their talents through vibrant cultural performances, including traditional Konyak tribal dances, carol singing and other dance performances. A high tea session conducted after the cultural programme reflected the rich traditions of Nagaland through the sharing of local food. Lunch was served thereafter followed by an interactive session where students and Assam Rifles troops mingled, strengthening the bond between the local community and the force. 

An informative tour of the Company Operating Base was conducted during which students gained firsthand exposure to the operational environment and daily functioning of the Assam Rifles. The day’s itinerary also included an inspiring lecture on career opportunities in the Armed Forces, covering entry schemes such as Agniveer and Short Service Commission. This was followed by the screening of a motivational movie that instilled a sense of patriotism, discipline and national pride among the youth. 

In addition, Assam Rifles organised a special Assam Rifles Dog Show along with a series of fun games, fostering teamwork, enthusiasm and camaraderie among students, local youth and Assam Rifles personnel. The event concluded with a friendly volleyball match between the local youth team and the Assam Rifles volleyball team followed by a prize distribution ceremony and the closing address by the Company Commander.

The Director General of Assam Rifles interacted with a group of 20 students from Dimapur, motivating them to develop leadership qualities, discipline, and a deep sense of service towards the nation.

He emphasised the importance of youth participation in nation-building, urging them to remain committed to moral values and collective progress. The dignitaries commended the efforts of the organizers in fostering national integration through such vibrant initiatives that combine education, culture, and patriotism. The participants expressed great enthusiasm and appreciation for the opportunity to learn from accomplished leaders and to connect with peers from diverse regions. The Rashtrakatha Shivir 2026 continues to stand as a beacon of unity, knowledge, and inspiration for the youth of India.
