Shamator, February 15 (MExN): The Ministry of MSME, Government of India, MSME Development and Facilitation Office, Dimapur, in association with the Department of Industries and Commerce and District Administration organised a one-day awareness camp on PM Vishwakarma on February 14 at Cultural Hall, Shamator. More than 200 artisans attended the awareness programme.

The session began with a welcome address by Kudazo Swuro, EAC Shamator and Khumchopi Sangtam, Functional Manager, District Industries Centre, Tuensang. This was followed by a presentation from the State PMU, PM Vishwakarma and interaction with the participants, stated a DIPR report.

Along with registering for the scheme, artisans also applied for corrective measures in their Aadhaar such as seeding of their mobile number, change in residential address and addition of AC number or ‘Care of’. Under the scheme, it is mandatory for an artisan to have the following details on their Aadhaar to apply. Similarly, the Village Council Chairman should also have their Aadhaar and mobile number linked to onboard on the scheme’s portal and approve artisan’s applications.

As part of a series of camps conducted across the state, the objective is three pronged: to create on ground awareness of the scheme, onboard the village on the scheme’s portal and facilitate enrollment of artisans. The PM Vishwakarma Scheme aims to upskill artisans in their chosen trade through access to high quality training, upgraded tools and access to collateral free credit.

The 18 identified trades under the scheme are Carpenter, Goldsmith, Potter, Barber, Cobbler, Sculptor, Tailor, Washerman, Boat Maker, Mason, Armourer, Blacksmith, Hammer and tool Kit Maker, Locksmith, Stone Breaker, Basket/Mat/Broom Maker/Coir Weaver, Doll & Toy Maker, Garland Maker, Fishing Net Maker. Currently, the trades Carpentry, Masonry and Tailoring are on halt at the centre. The entire process of the scheme is digital and interested artisans can enroll at the nearest CSC.
