
Phek, June 10 : The four-day long ‘Non-Local Verification drive’ under the initiative of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU), which started on June 7 successfully culminated today. The verification was conducted in five centres - Phek, Pfutsero, Chozuba, Chizami & Chetheba and registered approximately 600 non-locals.
Talking to The Morung Express, CSU president Esther Rhakho stated that the ongoing drive is the sixth phase. Claiming the sixth phase drive as one of the most successful mission, she expressed her profound gratitude to the district administration, police personals, NGOs, well wishers for the positive cooperation and subsequently making the mission a successful conclusion.

Speaking exclusively to this correspondent on behalf of the Chakhesang community, she expressed her genuine concern over the prevailing non-locals dominating the Nagas in all spheres. “Cultures of forefathers - the real identity were being viewed vanishing under high speed with the coming of illegal immigrants in our land,” stated Rhakho and added that one should take up the very issue seriously by considering the same as an important factor for the future of the youngsters.
Rhakho also stated: “The illegal immigrants from Bengladesh who geared up their heads under ugly motive were seeing dominating the whole trend of the Nagas posing a serious threat to the entire of the Nagas and subsequently keeping the future lives at stake.”
She also made a humble appeal to the entire like-minded people from the community to come forward to the mainstream and join hands to work for the better future of the Nagas.
Stressing on the importance of the ongoing CSU mission, she disclosed that, ‘a retired government officer from Phek, whose labourers ran away with his money secretly could be traced because of the ongoing CSU drive in Phek.
While stating the ignorance of the CSU directive by the locals, she said that it increases the number of non-locals, she also stated that it is the equal responsibility of every citizens to wipe away the illegal
immigrants.
The CSU president Esther Rhakho in a separate statement condemned the dastardly act of some national workers who brutally killed late Niechizo of Tehephu village recently at Phek Town. Stating the killing as a big blockade to the ongoing peace process initiated by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR), the CSU expressed its discontentment over the tragedy and appealed the entire national functionary not to opt as such in the road of finding permanent settlement.
