Kohima, June 20 : The fire accident that took place on June 17 late night at Sokhreizie T.Khel Market BOC, (opposite to Nagaland Fire and Emergency services office) has caused a heavy loss. The commodity vendor rooms numbering to 147 approximately were damaged, costing loss worth crores of rupees. It was reported that at the accident site for the third day, debris were cleared out using JCB and trucks.
The razed market which belongs to Tsutunuomia Khel of Kohima village was in its plan of reconstructing the market. It is one of the main market centres and caters kitchen goods for the denizens of Kohima was put on halt since June 18 causing immense hardship of daily affairs for the people.
The complex which comprises of several structure buildings were reported to have ill equipped materials without proper architect and in the meantime having a high chance of collapsing at any moment.
Mention may be made that following the accident, the adjacent market remain closed down on Saturday and Sunday. However few vendors whose materials were safe during the tragedy started functioning as usual from today onwards.
Despite the entire complex which razed into ashes, some few non-local vegetable vendors were seeing occupying the cleared out places as part of restoring their business under pathetic condition. Some few adjacent butcher shops have also started their normal job today.
