Despite slowdown in Naga Reconciliation, FNR optimistic

Dimapur | April 26 : The Naga reconciliation process has hit rock bottom with the media war between the NSCN-K and NSCN-IM on one side and on the other, the leadership tussle within the NNC. Nonetheless, the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) remains optimistic that things will work out.
Talking to Newmai News Network this evening, convener of Forum for Naga Reconciliation Dr Wati Aier speculated that the 'highest level meeting' would take place very soon. However, Dr Wati Aier said he is not in a condition to spell out the precise date for the event. The proposed meeting of the topmost leaders of the three Naga underground organizations has been termed as the 'highest level meeting."
When asked by this news agency about his views on the present media war involving the three Naga underground groups, Dr Wati Aier termed it “unfortunate”. "I hope they will halt the issuing of provocative statements in the media against each other," stated Dr Aier.
It is pertinent to note that earlier, there were encouraging developments regarding the ongoing Naga reconciliation process. As recent as last month, the NSCN-K had expressed commitment of holding the "highest level meeting" of the Naga underground leaders.
In addition, last month, NSCN-IM leaders Th Muivah and Isak Chishi Swu had arrived in Dimapur for the 'highest level meeting'. However, the meeting of Naga top leaders involving Th Muivah, Isak Chisi Swu and SS Khaplang and leaders from the NNC could not take place due to some “technical problem”. After camping in Dimapur for about two weeks, Muivah and Swu returned to New Delhi.
In spite of the blow-hot-blow-cold relations of the three Naga underground organizations, the Forum for Naga Reconciliation has yet to lose its patience. The Forum for Naga Reconciliation is instrumental in halting the three Naga underground groups from the fierce factional clashes witnessed in the Naga areas until the early part of 2008. After its formation, the Dr Wati Aier-led FNR had organized numerous football matches involving the three warring Naga underground groups and Naga civil society as well. Several conclaves convened by FNR had also been held both in Nagaland and abroad.
