Dimapur, May 10 (MExN): Leaders and tribal organizations representing Diphupar ‘B’ Village Council today issued a hard-hitting statement warning three former council members accused of going to the Head GB of the village and abusing him with foul and abusive language, daring him “who can do anything against the Sumi community.” A statement signed by leaders, GB, and citizens of the village and its council was received here today.
A joint meeting of GB, tribal and community chairpersons, secretaries and elders of Diphupar ‘B’ Village was held on May 9. They have condemned an incident on the night of May 8, around 10:20 PM when the chairman of the village’s Sumi community, former chairman of Sumi community of the village and another former VCM of the village, came to the residence of the Head GB and caretaker-chairman of the village and abused him. The three persons came drunken and used abusive and offensive language ‘on tribal lines’ and even threatened to skin him alive and drink his blood, the village stated. The three even went to the extent of asking him “who can do anything against the Sumi community,” the statement said.
The signatories on behalf of the respective communities in the village and the villagers in general have assured that the village shall not be cowed down by the threats and intimidation from the stated three persons.
