
DIMAPUR, May 13 (MExN): The issue over formation of the Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) is yet to die down. An emergency meeting of several business organizations and prominent businessmen of Dimapur, under the banner of ‘Frontal Business Organisations’, held on Friday, May 13 resolved to “pursue the District Administration for formation of the DCCI, tentatively by Wednesday, the 18th May, 2011.” A press release, informing of the development was received here from the newly formed forum. It was appended by Dr. John Murry and Basu Damani, designated as ‘Sessional Chairman’ and ‘Sessional Secretary’ respectively of the Frontal Business Organisations.
“The representatives of the various Business Organisations and prominent businessmen from various trades and communities had an emergency meeting at hotel Saramati, Dimapur on 13th May, 2011. Dr. John Murry was unanimously selected as the sessional chairman and Basu Damani as the sessional secretary of the meeting”, the release stated. It also disclosed certain resolutions adopted at the meeting. “Dr. John Murry was selected as the convenor and Khegholi as the secretary of the ‘Frontal Business Organisations’ till the issue of DCCI is settled”, it informed. It authorized the convenor and secretary to pursue with the district administration the formation the DCCI.
While condemning the gruesome killing of businessman Md. Israr on May 12 “by miscreants identified to be members of the NSCN-IM”, it expressed deep condolence to the bereaved family. “It further demanded to award stringent punishment to the culprits.” “It also resolved to pursue the memorandum submitted to the District Administration and the NSCN-IM by the fifteen Business Organizations on 12th May, 2011.” The press release was accompanied by a copy containing the signatures of 39 representatives from various business bodies and individuals, who attended the meeting.
