DoNER Minister review NLCPR/NEC schemes

New Delhi, April 27 (MExN): Bijoy Krishna Handique, Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India today reviewed the schemes under NLCPR /NEC Funds for Arunachal Pradesh at a high level meeting held at Itanagar today.
Handique mentioned that “I have come to understand the constraints faced in the execution of the NLCPR/NEC Schemes here. Our intention is to work as partners with the Arunachal Government and I am hopeful that there will be a renewed focus on the NLCPR / NEC Projects. We have declared an incentive package for the states with better project completion rates and Sikkim was the winner last year. I am optimistic that Arunachal will bag the Incentive for this Financial Year. I wish the people of the state all progress and prosperity and reiterate my Ministry’s commitment towards the overall development of the state”.
The discussions in the meeting veered on the specifics of the execution of schemes under the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) Fund administered by the Ministry of DoNER and also the Schemes under the North Eastern Council. During the last financial year (2010-11), an unprecedented number of 29 projects worth Rs.325.24 crore were sanctioned to Arunachal Pradesh from NLCPR while NEC has released 70.07 Crores during the Current year itself.
The meeting was attended by Arunachal Ministers, Tako Dabi (Home) and Nabam Tuki (Transport & Urban Development), Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, Tabom Bam, Private Secretary to Minister of DoNER, Dr. Ravi Kota and other senior officials from Ministry of DoNER and North Eastern Council (NEC).
Earlier in the day, Handique visited the Civil Secretariat Complex Worksite for which Ministry of DoNER had sanctioned an amount of Rs.89 Crores. He also visited Naharlagan to inspect the Water Supply Scheme also funded by Ministry of DoNER to the tune of Rs.12 Crores. He also visited the R.K Mission Hospital for which the Ministry had contributed towards the corpus fund and various works in addition to an amount of Rs.10 Crores for development of Physical Infrastructure and Modern Equipment. Handique is on a three day visit to Arunachal Pradesh which ends on the 28th of April, 2011.
