Dr Hentok Phom bids farewell to Nagaland House, Delhi

Dimapur, August 27 (MExN): A farewell programme was held in honour of Joint Director (Health & Family Welfare) and Senior Medical Officer, Nagaland House, New Delhi, Dr Hentok Phom, at the Nagaland State Guest House, R K Puram, on August 25. 

Joint Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, New Delhi, Sharon Longchari commended Dr Phom's contribution to the Naga community in Delhi spanning nearly 25 years. She said his dedication helped establish an ecosystem and network through which patients from Nagaland could connect with coordinators and access treatment at leading hospitals in Delhi.

She also credited him with establishing a systematic process for completing necessary paperwork and embalming bodies before their transportation home in cases of death, easing the burden on families. The system, she said, would continue to benefit patients and families visiting Delhi for treatment.

Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations and Senior PRO, Nagaland House, Kuolie Mere, said 19 hospitals in Delhi-NCR had been empanelled under the Chief Minister's Health Insurance Scheme under Dr Phom's supervision.

He also highlighted Dr Phom's initiative in creating a platform in 2014, managed by students' unions, through which volunteers could donate blood and assist patients in need.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Phom recalled his years in Delhi as a Medical Officer and said the community had been the best part of his experience. He said one of his priorities after joining Nagaland House in 2002 was to serve its staff.

Other officers and staff also expressed gratitude and shared their experiences of working with Dr Phom, who will join the National Health Mission, Kohima, as State Programme Officer.
