Kohima, July 8 (MExN): The Eastern Naga National Workers Association (ENNWA) has welcomed the Nagaland Legislative Assembly's decision supporting legislative, executive and financial autonomy under the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), describing it as a "godly move" that would ensure the equal growth of Eastern Nagaland alongside the rest of the State.
In a press statement, the association thanked the Assembly, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio, for what it termed a bold decision supporting legislative, executive and financial autonomy under the FNTA. It said the decision had restored the hopes of the people and urged the people of Eastern Nagaland to "salute the bold step" taken by the Assembly.
The ENNWA also welcomed the Assembly's decision to travel to New Delhi for consultations with the Union Home Minister and other agencies, expressing confidence that the meeting would "clear the cloud of confusion and suspicion" that had persisted between the State Government and the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) even after the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on February 5, 2026.
At the same time, the association criticised some members of the Eastern Nagaland Legislators' Union (ENLU), alleging that they had "selfishly stood against the provision of Legislature under FNTA." It further alleged that such members were "destructive forces" and "senseless and irresponsible."
Objecting to their inclusion in the proposed Nagaland Assembly delegation to New Delhi, the ENNWA said the delegation "must not include such negative and selfish ENLU members" as they would only "jeopardise the well planned decision of Nagaland Assembly" instead of advocating for the rights of Eastern Nagaland and its people.
The association further claimed that, while it was "not trying to blame all ENLU," it had observed "few black-sheep with no clarity in mind and ignorant of fragile situation at home." It urged all ENLU members to choose the course that served the interests of the people.
The ENNWA concluded by praying that Almighty God would guide the Chief Minister-led delegation to New Delhi and grant it the wisdom to overcome the challenges ahead.
