Dimapur, June 4(MExN): The Eastern Sumi Sub-Hoho (ESSH) Kiphire has expressed deep gratitude to the DAN Government under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for including the Sumis of Kiphire under the backward reservation quota and terming this as a “long cherished dream of the people of Kiphire”. The ESSH also acknowledged the decision taken by the state cabinet to fill up the post of EACs particularly in the outpost areas through a special recruitment drive for 10 less represented tribes in the state.
However, the press note stated that the Sumis of Kiphire were deprived of such opportunities despite being declared a backward tribe. The general Secretary of ESSH, Akaho. K. Yeptho said that the Sumis of Kiphire as compared to other counterpart backward tribes in the state were “very less represented” people. Therefore the ESSH appealed to the highest decision body of the government that the special privilege be implemented without any discrimination among the backward communities of the state. The ESSH also requested to include the Sumis of Kiphire district into this special recruitment drive so that the people shine for the State.
