Kohima | May 14 : The formal handing and taking over of the Naga Students’ Federation officials for the tenure 2011-2013 was done today at Naga Club Building, Kohima. Speaking on the occasion, the new president Kelhouneizo Yhome asserted the gathering present, consisting of senior NSF officials, federating units and others, that the new team led by himself would dedicate themselves and also give their best commitment to serve the Naga people in general and the younger generation in particular. He maintained that the new team would willfully take up issues in the interest of the Naga people and would come up with programmes to strengthen the federation.
He also sought the guidance of the senior NSF leaders in particular and the Naga people in general in carrying forward the aims and objectives of the federation. Meanwhile, he conveyed gratefulness to outgoing team led by President Mutsikhoyo Yhobu for the experienced leadership and team work shown in dealing with issues concerning the Naga society and also to deliver justice.
Delivering his last speech, outgoing president Mutsikhoyo Yhobu while expressing that the NSF platform consist of highly intellectual younger generation of the Naga society said that the Naga people have high hopes on the Federation. Therefore, he called upon the new team to uphold the people’s recognition and work cohesively towards the upliftment of Naga society and betterment of younger generation.
He said that as responsible leaders of the Naga society, the new team must be able to reason out and carry forward the Naga interest and also uplift the federation. “There should not be any room for misleading or misguiding the students and Naga community,” he said while also expressing the hope that the new team will be able to lead the Naga people with sincerity and dedication.
He thanked his team of officials for working together in dealing with issues concerning the students and younger generation like the NPSC Answer sheet swapping case, Government Servants Retirement Act and Mao Gate incidents. “We managed to achieve such things with the support of all the executives and Naga people,” he said. He also congratulated the new team and wished them all the best while also asserting that he will come forward for any assistance sought by them.
Exhorting the new team, senior NSF leader G. Vashum said it is not an easy task to be the leader of NSF as they have to deal with several issues in the interest of students’ community as well as the Naga society. He cautioned them against misutilizing their power as leaders and also asserted that the seniors will be always there to guide the new team.
Former Vice President Charles Lotha, Kezhazer Angami and Medo Yokha were among the senior leaders present during the handing and taking over function which was chaired by Tribunal Kapani Krichena.
