
Kohima | March 31 : The Nagaland state branch of Family Planning Association of India today installed a Laboratory and Laparoscope machine for family planning here at its Reproductive Health & Family Welfare Planning Centre, Behind United Traders, Daklane. This facility will go a long way in helping those people who can't afford high cost services as FPA India advocates 'no service refusal policy' to any walk-in client.
The project- diagnostic laboratory facilities is as part of its reproductive health clinic. The laboratory will provide basic diagnostic testing for reproductive and sexual health and has a full-time lab technician. Guests at the inauguration included Dr Monique Kamat from the FPAI Headquarters, Mumbai, Rupsa Mallik, from the International Planned Parenthood Federation, South Asia Regional Office, New Delhi and Sara Nuh, President, FPAI Nagaland Branch Kohima.
The inauguration was attended by Health workers, ASHA, Anganwadi workers, health workers and community women folk totaling more than 60 health workers.
Speaking at the inauguration Vincent Belho, Branch Manager informed that FPAI Nagaland Branch was established in 1978 and ever since has been working on mother and child health and contraception and family planning. He also spoke about the various services being provided by the FPAI clinic located at main town, Daklane with Kohima district as its operational area besides providing services to clients from other remote districts.
While Dr Monique who opined ‘Every woman’s reproductive health is her Basic right’ “we all have to initiate and promote this right”. The clinic will also soon start tubal ligation services at the RHFPC once the license is granted by the concern department. The clinic already provides several basic reproductive health services and general health services including family planning and contraception.
