Tuensang, August 26 (MExN): Freshers of Sao Chang College (SCC) stepped into a new chapter of their academic journey as the Sao Chang College Students’ Union (SCCSU) organised its 53rd Freshers’ Meet on August 25 under the theme, “Beyond the Threshold.”
The event, held at the College Multipurpose Hall, welcomed the new students into the college community and provided them with an opportunity to interact with fellow students and faculty.
Addressing the gathering, SCC Principal Dr Lanurenla highlighted the college’s alumni, various awards and programmes, while also sharing her perspectives as both a principal and a parent.
A special prayer for the freshers was offered by Lemba APY Saksi Baptist Lashong.
The formal session also featured a welcome address by Sangmailenla, General Secretary of SCCSU, while Rangcholi delivered a speech on behalf of the freshers. Betikhumla and the hostellers presented vocal performances.
The celebrations continued with an informal session featuring student performances and the Mr and Ms Freshers competition.
The Ms Fresher and Mr Fresher titles were clinched by Phumshung W Phom of Political Science and Hiamphai of Sociology, respectively.
Moalemla of the Education Department won the Ms Congeniality title, while B Sangle Chiba of the English Department secured the Mr Personality title. Aliya of Sociology and Sangtsali Sangtam of History were adjudged Ms and Mr Ramp Walk, respectively.
The Freshers’ Meet concluded on a celebratory note, providing the new students with an opportunity to participate in college activities, showcase their talents and foster fellowship within the college community, stated a press release from SCC.
