Governor, CM of Nagaland condole

DIMAPUR, MAY 4 (MExN): As reports came in about the demise of Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu in a helicopter crash, the Nagaland government expressed condolence over the tragic incident. Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar in a condolence message described
Dorjee Khandu as someone who made an outstanding contribution and service to the people of Arunachal Pradesh in general and the people of Tawang in particular. The Governor conveyed his condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed to Almighty God to grant them the strength to bear the great loss.
In another condolence message, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio expressed deep shock over the tragic manner in which Dorjee Khandu was killed. Rio described the Arunachal Pradesh CM as a “down to earth and a highly practical politician”. “In his tragic demise, the people of Arunachal Pradesh have indeed lost a veteran leader, a leader who had taken the State on the path to remarkable progress”, Rio stated while adding that in his untimely death was not only a great loss to the people of Arunachal Pradesh but a loss for the people of North East region and the country as a whole.
“In this hour of grief, I, on behalf of the people of Nagaland and on my own behalf, convey my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and the people of Arunachal Pradesh and also to the dear and near ones of the other bereaved families and pray to God to give strength, courage and fortitude to them to bear this misfortune”, Rio stated.
Former Congress Legislator Party Leader I. Imkong has also mourned the loss of Khandu. “The moment news was flashed about the disappearance of Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Dorjee Khandu ji’s chopper on Saturday afternoon, I had followed the news reports minutely with a sense of disbelief and apprehension but hoped and prayed that he would be safe and sound. However, my worst fears were realized when the news of the tragic demise of Khandu ji was confirmed”, stated Imkong in his condolence message.
Imkong stated that that Late Dorjee Khandu and him had known each other for a long time and they had shared many opinions, ideas and views regarding various socio-economic and political issues facing the people of the Northeast with particular reference to Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. “In my periodic discourses with him, I found him to be a visionary in spirit and an achiever in action. He was popularly known to be generous, easily approachable, and a down-to-earth leader of the people”, Imkong stated.
Stating that the people of Arunachal Pradesh will find it difficult to fill the void created by his sudden departure, Imkong pointed out that he had lost a good and reliable friend and it would be difficult to overcome this shock for a long time. “In this tragic hour of loss and mourning, my wife joins me in expressing our deepest condolences to all the members of the bereaved family and to the people of Arunachal Pradesh. It is our sincere prayer that Almighty God will grant, you and the family members of all the departed souls, strength and solace to overcome this loss”, stated the condolence message.
