GPRN/NSCN condemns abduction and murder

DIMAPUR, MAY 13 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has stated that the abduction and cold blooded killing of businessman Md. Israr by “Hebron Campers” on the night of 12th April 2011 has “rudely awakened the Nagas to the reality of the situation”. “Another father and husband who, by dint of hardwork and sweat, made Nagaland his home, was brutally murdered by reckless killers who prey on businessmen for easy living”, stated a press note from the MIP.
It pointed out that a “group that indulges in such cowardly action would only heap shame and hardship upon the Nagas”. Referring to the name Umesh Bihari, a 2nd Lieutenant in the NSCN/GPRN, “who is believed to be the mastermind in the brutal murder”, the MIP note suggested that the “IM is running an abduction racket by employing non-locals to identify and target businessmen in Dimapur”. It went on to allege that “profiteers and black-marketers have long devalued the Naga political struggle” and that “abduction and kidnapping for ransom by IM, on many occasions have been hushed up incidents with threats and intimidations”.
The GPRN/NSCN has lauded the Dimapur police pointing out that the latter had been “brave enough to unearth all the names of IM cadres involved in the abduction and killing of Md. Israr”. Nagas are able to see the modus operandi of the perpetrators, the MIP note stated.
Stating that the peaceful atmosphere has been disturbed by such barbaric killing, the GPRN/NSCN termed as “extremely unfortunate” that “now Biharis and other nationalities are being trained at Hebron Camp to solely abduct businessmen and demand ransom”. As such it was for the GOI to investigate whether outside forces are being used to propagate terrorist activities in Nagaland, it stated while adding that the Naga people are convinced that lasting political solution will come only through Nagas themselves; through reconciliation in letter and spirit and not through brutal murder.
The GPRN/NSCN extended its condolence to the victim’s family, Muslim community and also the business fraternity for the untimely loss of their valued member.
