Staff of Imphal campus of Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) on Monday encouraged personnel involved in round the clock service in enforcing measures to prevent outbreak of COVID-19 by supplying hand sanitizer free of cost.
The hand sanitizer distributed by the staff of the IBSD was produced by the institute based on WHO recommended formula and distributed free of cost to the police personnel, field staffs of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) and media persons on duty in Imphal.
Talking to reporters, IBSD scientist Indira Devi said that the hand sanitizer was produced by the institute considering the inconveniences being faced in the state by people due to non-availability of the same in the market in Imphal.
In the meantime, Youths Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) on Monday drew the attention of the authorities of the state government with regard to certain essentials of public life to fight diseases.
The forum, however, appreciated the measures being taken up by the state government to prevent the outbreak of the coronavirus in the state.
In a press statement, YFPHR drew the attention of the concerned authorities of the state government to ensure availability of basic essential commodities in every locality during the lockdown to combat COVID-19. The forum also demanded potable water in every locality while observing that most of the households in the state do not have water connection or water even though a connection might have been installed.
The YFPHR complained of non-availability of sufficient masks in every locality at reasonable prices. It further demanded supply of hand wash, soaps and sanitizer at reasonable prices in every locality.
