‘India made transformational leap under Modi’s BJP’

According to the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), the country has made a great transformational leap over the last 11 years under the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance regime. The Nagaland BJP held an Exhibition and Professional Meet at a hotel in Dimapur, on June 14, as a part of what was termed as a nationwide campaign commemorating 11 years of the BJP-led government in New Delhi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

The Nagaland unit of the ruling party also addressed a press conference where it sought to highlight the achievements of the union government through the campaign. The press conference was jointly addressed by state BJP legislators PHED Minister, Jacob Zhimomi; MLA and Advisor, Tovihoto Ayemi, and party leaders led by state BJP President, Benjamin Yepthomi. 

PHED Minister Zhimomi said that one of the highlights of the government’s achievements has been poverty eradication. He said that more than 250 million people have climbed the economic ladder under the Modi regime through transparent and participatory governance mechanism as envisaged in the BJP manifesto.  Welfare and development schemes like the PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and Jal Jeevan Mission, which he said has been instrumental in affecting transformational change. 

Highlighting key achievements, Zhimomi stated that over 270 million people have been lifted out of poverty through targeted and transparent governance mechanisms such as Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and schemes like PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, and Jal Jeevan Mission. He added that the government has achieved greater transparency and accountability by way of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

He claimed that the achievements of the Modi government have been noted by both national and global observers. 

Zhimomi noted the Prime Minister's aspiration to make India self-reliant, observing that the country's economy has risen from 7th or 8th globally to become the fourth largest. He asserted that "Atma Nirbhar Bharat" initiatives are proceeding “on a war footing,” and that “Made in India” products now have a great impact on the economy, contrasting with a pre-2014 scenario where 70 percent of products were imported.

The Minister also pointed to significant impetus in women empowerment, the ambition to make India a global education hub, and the Modi government's top priority given to national security in the defence sector. He mentioned the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, which he said, reduces citizens' expenses. 

He said that the slogan Viksit Bharat, Viksit Nagaland demonstrate real change, not just mere catchphrases. Under the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India movement, he said that the country India has reduced its dependence on imports.

MLA and Advisor for Tribal Affairs and Election, Tovihoto Ayemi said that while not all states are governed by the BJP, those with BJP or allied governments have witnessed real and marked progress, not just in statistics. “With the adoption of advanced technologies and citizen-centric governance, India is now progressing alongside the rest of the world,” he said.

State BJP President Benjamin Yepthomi announced recent appointments made in the party’s organisational setup for the 2025-28 tenure. According to him, BJP has recorded over 2.6 lakh primary memberships and around 5,000 active members in Nagaland.
