Imphal | April 14 : Following planting of a bomb and a threat to close the institute by Kangleipak Communist Party-Maoist early this month (KCP-Maoist) against an MLA owned Loiyalam Nursing School located in Lamsang, students and teachers today deserted the institute fearing adverse repercussion from the banned outfit.
Since early morning today, parents and guardians of the trainee nurses poured in to take away their wards from the hostel of the beleaguered nursing institute which is owned and operated by MLA W Brajabiddhu.
One of the trainees said that the decision of KCP (Maoist) to ban the institute is not satisfactory as it has played havoc with the fate of the students. “They must not resort to such sanction and decree where the fate of the student is at stake…they must therefore revoke the decision to ban the institute.” Another student said that the students have resorted to deserting the institute as the teachers have stop showing up for regular classes.
Significantly, a bomb was found planted in the precinct of the institute on April 6 last. The same day, KCP (Maoist) claimed responsibility on planting the bomb and decreed that the institute stand banned forever. The press release of the KCP on April 6 further said that the ban was imposed by the outfit following a tip off by MLA Brajabiddhu that led to the arrest of a man from Taothong. Besides, the MLA was accused of spreading false propaganda to meira paibis of the Maoist having nexus with the police.
