DIMAPUR, June 8 (MExN): The Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland (LMFN) convened its 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 4 at the Hotel Jalmahal Conference Hall in Dimapur, drawing delegates from across the state including Kohima, Chümoukedima, and Dimapur.
Chairman Bishnu Bhattacharjee, addressing the gathering, underscored the need to safeguard the constitutional rights of minorities and called for united efforts to uplift linguistic minority communities in Nagaland. He appealed to members to work collectively with knowledge, skills, and wisdom, while stressing peaceful coexistence, unity in diversity, and social harmony.
A key outcome of the AGM was the resolution to constitute a Governing Body, Advisory Board, and Working Committees at the district level, with a focus on minority welfare and developmental projects. The forum also resolved to engage in the sectors of education and health, utilizing available limited resources.
The meeting reaffirmed LMFN’s commitment to addressing grassroots issues through dialogue with the government and pledged continued dedication to development, peace, and welfare of linguistic minority communities.
Secretary Arijit Sharma presented the Annual Report, which was accepted with appreciation by the house. Key contributors during the discussion hour included Pawan Ladha, Maniram Ale, Devendra Rana, Jiten Gogoi, Pankaj Ji, Arun Nandi, Sahiruddin Ahmed, Bhuwansing Rai, and M. Chetia.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by General Secretary Kabir Ahmed Choudhury, followed by a fellowship dinner.
