Longleng, July 7 (MExN): The monthly meeting of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Longleng, on Tuesday approved several development proposals while emphasising the importance of the ongoing Census exercise and greater accountability among government departments.
The meeting was attended by MLA and DPDB Chairman B Bangtick Phom and Advisor for Airways and Railways A Pongshi Phom. Deputy Commissioner and DPDB Vice Chairman W Manpai Phom chaired the meeting, reviewed the minutes of the previous sitting and welcomed newly inducted members. Addressing the Board, Advisor Pongshi underscored the importance of the ongoing Census, stating that every individual should be enumerated at their place of residence in accordance with Census guidelines.
He said accurate population data is essential for effective planning, equitable distribution of government resources and future development, and urged officials entrusted with Census duties to carry out the exercise with sincerity, impartiality and professionalism. He also called on all departments to extend full cooperation to Census officials.
DPDB Chairman Bangtick stressed the need for accountability and directed all Heads of Departments to remain stationed at their respective headquarters to ensure efficient public service delivery, effective coordination and timely implementation of government programmes.
Among the decisions taken, the Board approved the shifting of GPS Namsang C to the EAC office building, the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) 2026–27 scheme, registration of the Phom Sports Association under the Societies Registration Act, construction of an astro turf at Longleng and creation of a Sub-Divisional Horticulture Office at Tamlu.
The meeting also reviewed various developmental issues concerning the district, reported the State DIPR.
