Dimapur, December 16 (MExN): The Maple Tree School, which was started this year in April, had its first annual School function today, December 16 at its school premises with MLA Nicky Kire as the chief guest. The most touching sight was a 91-year-old; one Yashila, came to see her great grandchildren perform in the chilly evening.
Warming up the Christmas mood for everyone, the students sang ‘Away in a Manger’ melodiously. Adding to which the LKG and the UKG students also presented recitals, dance and sang Abba’s old time favorite ‘I have a dream’. Kick boxing demonstration was a spectacular presentation, which awed the gathering.
The chief guest expressed that he is impressed by the school’s different way of approach in teaching the students. He hopes that the school will produce successful personalities to represent the state and country. Concerning different English accents we have in Nagaland, he appealed to the teachers to teach the students to speak English in neutral accent. Also as an advisor to Music Task Force Nagaland, Nicky assured the school that he will extend help to them in regard to music.
Earlier, the Director of Maple Tree School Sanen Imchen while addressing the gathering said that the school aims to “unleash the potential of not one child but to unleashed the potential of every child.” He also stressed that it is not just the task of a teacher to mould a student but parents need to play their roles. “..Smartest child is not the one who gives the right answer but asks the right question,” he added.
