Phek, January 2 (MExN): The Middle Khomi Students’ Union (MKSU) organised its 64th General Session from December 29 to 30, 2025, at the village Community Hall under the theme “Empowering Students through Education, Enterprise and Competitive Exams.”
A press update received here stated that the inaugural programme began with the unfurling of the Union flag, followed by the rendition of the Union anthem.
Delivering the presidential address, MKSU president Eli Bino Tenenu stated that the session had been thoughtfully designed to foster academic awareness and entrepreneurial thinking, while encouraging students to engage in learning and grow collectively in both professional and personal pursuits.
Addressing the gathering as the inaugural guest, Wekhrope Akami, Functional Manager, Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Nagaland, said that education is more than literacy and described it as the key to ideas and opportunities. He encouraged students to learn good qualities from friends and urged parents to support their children’s interests while guiding them to think in terms of long-term goals. He also motivated students to remain consistent, focused and disciplined.
Another speaker, Welhikhro Mero, Proprietor of Mero’s Solution Enterprises, Phek, and Branch Director of VICE, Pfutsero, shared similar views, stating that the principles of hard work apply equally to entrepreneurship and competitive examinations. He encouraged students to explore a wider range of career options, including vocational training, to acquire practical skills and improve opportunities.
The programme also featured insights shared by NPSC achievers, a folk tune presented by the Women Department, and a special appearance by Vesekho Dozo, President of the Thüvopisü Students’ Union.
The session concluded with a closing prayer by Thüpu Lohe, Youth Director, Middle Khomi Baptist Church (MKBC).
