The Sashing ceremony and orientation for 20 semi finalist of Miss Kohima 2026 took place at Happy Food RestroCafe, Kohima on September 12. The 20 contestant received sashes from Miss Kohima 2025 1st Runner-Up Neilanuo Sachu.
The constants include Yukhinli Jovita, Sera Theyo, Thejazenuo Angami, Sunepjungla Kichu, Vinika P Kiba, Lumvila T Sangtam, Khrielenuo Viluo, Vipfhenuo Metha, Ravono Agnes Chasie, Achomang C. Sangtam, Vizovonuo Semou, Mhasitsonuo Medom, Alemla T Sangtam, Ebiboni E. Ezung, Nyiyale Regina Magh, Aviza Zashiimo, Mhasingunuo Peseyie, Rovisenuo Hibo, Thonulu Kapfo and Chemdansangmei.
Neitho Khamo, Co-Founder, 4FRONT Event Managements said that the sashing ceremony was the beginning of a journey that “we hope will be meaningful, challenging and transformative”.
This year, the 4FRONT Event Managements reached out to young women across different institutions and conducted auditions at campuses including Sazolie College (Host), St Joseph’s College Jakhama, Kohima Science College Jotsoma, Don Bosco College, Kohima College, and Mount Olive College, along with Open Auditions and Direct Entries.
He said that Miss Kohima platform is not merely about appearance, glamour or wearing a crown. It is about confidence, personality, discipline, communication, responsibility and a purpose, he said. He said that Miss Kohima platform also carries a responsibility towards the community, adding “We want our queens to use visibility positively- to speak, to inspire, to advocate and to contribute.”
Theja Sekhose, Show Director for Miss Kohima 2026 and Co-Founder of 4FRONT Event Managements said that Miss Kohima has always been more than a pageant. “It is a platform for women to discover themselves, develop their abilities and understand the responsibility that comes with representation,” he said.
Stating that the organizer want to take that philosophy a step further in 2026, he said “We are not simply looking for someone who can walk beautifully, speak confidently or carry a crown gracefully. We are looking for women who are willing to think, learn, participate, contribute and lead and women who understand that confidence is not simply being comfortable in front of an audience. Confidence is having the courage to speak when your voice matters.”
Sekhose said that beauty becomes meaningful when it is accompanied by character, compassion and purpose. He said that the journey of Miss Kohima 2026 will experience grooming, communication, personal branding, talent, cultural representation, stage preparation and advocacy.
Earlier, the sashing ceremony was led by Peweu Tunyi Khamo, Co-Founder, 4FRONT Event Managements. Merilo Kikon invoked God’s blessings while Tolika Yeptho presented a special number. The ceremony was chaired by Anon Wangshu while vote of thanks was proposed by Ruguotuonuo Yashu.
