Quarantine for passengers at desingated facilities

The Mizoram government on Monday decided to "quarantine" for incoming passengers at state’s designated quarantine facilities to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus in the state, an official said on Monday.
A state Health department official said that a meeting of the departmental secretaries was held on Monday in Aizawl. The meeting decided to put all passengers coming from coronavirus affected states and countries under quarantine at government designated quarantine facilities to prevent the spread of the deadly disease in the state, he also said.
The official then said that passengers who come by flights and landed at Lengpui Airport from coronavirus affected states like Maharastra, Kerela, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Punjab and those who come from abroad will undergo screening to be supervised by medical experts at the airport after which they will be immediately sent to be quarantined at designated quarantine facility at Lengpui near the airport.
After their initial stay at the designated quarantine facility, they will be examined to see if they are eligible for the quarantine at their homes in consultation with local level task force of their respective localities, the official said.
The meeting also decided to quarantine 57 passengers, mostly students, who returned from Guwahati by a bus on Monday at designated quarantine facility at Vairengte in Kolasib district on the Mizoram-Assam border.
In case of shortage of rooms, the passengers will be distributed to other designated quarantine facilities within Kolasib district, the meeting further said.
Meanwhile, the state-wide partial lockdown entered the second day on Monday.
Strict vigilance was maintained across state during which public movement or assembly of people were strictly prohibited.
However, shops selling essential commodities were opened between 9 am and 12 noon.
Sources said that some residents, who were loitering on the streets were warned by volunteers on duty to stay indoor.
Police said that the lockdown was total on Monday as not only people stayed indoor but also vehicles were off the roads except those officials on duty, media persons and medical emergency.
