MLA-elect Toshipokba thanks supporters

Dimapur, May 14 (MExN): New legislator for 26-Aonglenden constituency in Mokokchung, Toshipokba Longkumer expresses gratitude to all who supported him to winning the seat. A message from the Naga People’s Front’s (NPF) MLA-elect today assured leadership  and service even while offering an apology “for any acts of commission or omission that we may have committed in our quest to achieve victory.”
Longkumer said the “glory” of the May 7 Aonglenden by-election ‘belongs to the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland, the NPF, voters and supporters.’ Toshipokba mentioned numerous leaders, including chief minister Neiphiu Rio and NPF chief Dr. Shurhozelie down to the units and voters in his vote of thanks.
According to him, the NPF decided to contest the election on the agenda of ‘completely rejecting and obliterating’ the “Bedrock of Naga Society”, finding a just and permanent solution to the Naga political problem and to “seek and find avenues to promote the welfare of the youth.”
“…I once again pledge to leave no stone unturned in trying to put impetus on the various ongoing DAN initiatives in fulfilling these agenda. Moreover the holistic welfare of our very own constituency will remain a priority throughout my tenure and for which I once again seek your blessings, prayers and support,” Longkumer said.
For those who suffered during the elections the new NPF elect had these words: “My heart goes out to those families and individuals who have lost their dear one or were physically harmed during the electioneering. I only pray that the sacrifices you all have made will not go in vain. I and my family would also like to tender our unconditional and sincere apology for any acts of commission or omission that we may have committed in our quest to achieve victory.”
He said, “If there are any” they are appealed to “bury the hatchet” and “allow me to lead you” with your blessing for “our mutual good.”
