The NSS Unit of Mount Tiyi College, Wokha, organised Khelo India Samvaad 2026 at the college’s Conference Hall on Thursday in connection with National Sports Day.
A moderated discussion was held with Erenbeni P Lotha, national badminton player, and Jandemo M Lotha, MY Bharat volunteer. The interaction focused on youth participation, sports, leadership, fitness and the role of young people in nation-building.
Special invitee Nzano P Lotha Kikon, Deputy Chairman, WTC, encouraged students to make meaningful use of available opportunities and remain physically and mentally fit. She urged them not to remain mere spectators but to set goals, develop their talents and actively contribute to their communities.
She said initiatives such as Khelo India Samvaad provide a platform for direct interaction with young people, help identify grassroots-level infrastructure gaps and sporting talent, and contribute to strengthening sports facilities and nurturing athletes.
Kikon also encouraged students to participate actively in sports and community activities, stressing that talent, commitment and initiative can create opportunities at higher levels, including the national and international stages.
The programme was followed by a Yuva Samvaad interaction with NSS volunteers, providing students an opportunity to discuss youth development and sports.
The event also featured a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a screening of a short film highlighting key aspects of his Independence Day 2026 speech concerning the sports sector.
The programme concluded with a pledge on “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat”, followed by the National Anthem.
