Kohima, June 21 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio on Sunday joined the observance of World Music Day, describing music as an integral part of life in Nagaland and a powerful medium that connects people across the world.
In a social media post marking the occasion, Rio said that from folk melodies passed down through generations to contemporary expressions, music bring people together today, and continues to inspire stories, emotions and memories.
“On World Music Day, we celebrate music's power to inspire stories, emotions & memories, and to connect people worldwide,” the Chief Minister stated.
Meanwhile, TaFMA Chairman Theja Meru highlighted the growing global reach of Nagaland's music, stating that the State's artistes are taking its stories, creativity and culture to the world stage.
“Nagaland's music is now global-facing, with our artistes taking our stories, creativity, and culture to the world stage,” Meru said in a World Music Day message.
As TaFMA head, he further expressed pride in the contributions of Nagaland's musicians to the growing international recognition of the State's music landscape.
Events related with the day were held across Nagaland on Saturday and Sunday.
