Naga Council denounces criminal activities

Dimapur, May 13 (MExN): The kidnapping and subsequent murder of Dimapur trader Md. Israr on May 12 is denounced by a local organization, Naga Council of Dimapur. The council also appreciates the “NSCN/GPRN’s strong condemnation of the crime” and to “stem out antisocial activities committed by members in the organization.”
“Israr was a well known businessman who has struggled to make life and was friendly and affable to all. Gauging the mood and volatile situation, the council leaders have met the top NSCN/GPRN functionary and emissary today to apprise him of the situation on ground and appealed for sternest action against the criminals responsible for masterminding and shooting of the businessman,” the council said in a note today.
The Dimapur administration is told to “beef up vigil” because there has been “recurrence of antisocial activities” in and around Dimapur “of late”. The council assures full cooperation to the district police and administration in the fight against crime in the city.
“A peaceful atmosphere is the basis of joy for the citizens and promote economic growth and prosperity. Hence, it is our strong appeal to all concerned to keep Dimapur peaceful. The strictest punishment must be enforced to deter recurrence of crime,” the note said.
The council also appreciated “the NSCN/GPRN’s strong condemnation of the crime” and to “stem out antisocial activities committed by members in the organization.”  The Naga Council conveys deepest condolences to the bereaved family and to the Muslim community for the irreplaceable loss of its citizen.
