MOSCOW, JULY 14 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio highlighted India-Russia ties and invited Russian visitors to explore Nagaland’s cultural richness as he attended the closing ceremony of Bharat Utsav 2025 in Moscow, Russia as chief guest.

Addressing the gathering at Moscow’s historic Manezhnaya Square, Rio said the festival had brought India and Russia closer by showcasing the “magic of Indian culture, music, dance, yoga, and cuisine.” The event featured special segments from Nagaland and Gujarat, with cultural performances and exhibitions, a DIPR report stated.

Describing Nagaland as “a land of breathtaking beauty and profound cultural richness,” Rio invited the people of Russia to visit the state and experience its indigenous traditions, arts, crafts, and textiles.

Praising the Indian Embassy in Moscow, led by Ambassador Vinay Kumar, and acknowledging the support of the Moscow City Government, Rio extended a personal invitation to attend Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival.

Nagaland was prominently featured throughout the event. The Department of Tourism, led by Minister Temjen Imna Along, promoted the state under the Incredible India campaign through presentations and literature to boost tourism interest.

The Department of Industries & Commerce, led by Advisor Hekani Jakhalu, showcased “Made in Nagaland” products at the Nagaland Pavilion, including textiles, handicrafts, agricultural products, and Nagaland coffee, attracting significant interest.

The cultural segment of the closing ceremony featured performances by artists from Gujarat and Nagaland. A 25-member Nagaland delegation curated by the Task Force for Music & Arts (TAFMA) under Chairman Theja Meru presented folk music, traditional dances, fusion music, and a rendition of a popular Russian song, receiving wide appreciation.

Indian Ambassador Vinay Kumar, speaking as special guest, praised the enthusiastic response from Moscow residents and acknowledged Nagaland’s contributions, saying its performances reflected India’s rich diversity.

He said Bharat Utsav 2025 reaffirmed the deep-rooted friendship between India and Russia and would further strengthen bilateral ties and people-to-people connections.

During his visit, Rio met members of the Indian community, business representatives, and addressed a joint press conference with the Ambassador. He also gave an interview to Russia Today television, visited its headquarters, and interacted with media officials.
