NFR informs on ‘Janata Curfew’

Guwahati, March 21 (MExN): In view of the ‘Janata Curfew’ from 7AM – 9 PM on March 22, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced cancellation of services of some trains during the period.

 


A press release from NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer Subhanan Chanda has informed that following regulations have been imposed.  

 


•    All local passenger trains originating between midnight of 21/22-03-2020 to 10 PM of 
    March 22 will remain cancelled. 

 


•    However, the local passenger train services those already on run at 7 AM Sunday will continue to run to their respective destinations.

 


•    All long - distance Mail/Express and Intercity trains originating between 4 AM and 10 PM on March 22 will also remain cancelled. 

 


•    However trains already on run at 7AM will continue to run to their respective destinations. 

 


The NFR further informed that cancellations of trains are expected to restrict the spread of the virus. 
It may be mentioned here that NFR is taking all precautionary steps to discourage people from taking non-essential journeys and to encourage social distancing by the passengers for their safety to restrict the spread of the virus, it said. 

 


Trains with low occupancy are already being canceled, it added.
