Mon, November 1 (MExN): The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), in collaboration with the District Administration and District Health Society, Mon, launched the Integrated Health Campaign (IHC) at the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Tizit, on October 30.

The campaign is being implemented under the initiative of the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, with the objective of strengthening early detection, diagnosis and linkage to treatment for HIV and other major related diseases.

The launch programme was chaired by Longyim Tzudir, District Programme Officer, DISHA, Mon. It commenced with an invocation by Pastor P Wennyei of TTBC, followed by a keynote address by Dr Wangba K, Medical Officer, PHC Tizit. C Phuniang, NCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tizit, and Wangdun, President of KU Tizit Unit, also delivered short speeches.

Delivering a presentation on the campaign, Dr M C Longai Phom, Joint Director and Nodal Officer, DISHA (NSACS), highlighted its concept and significance, particularly in strengthening community-level screening and identifying undetected cases of HIV and related diseases.

He emphasised the need to encourage more people to voluntarily come forward for testing to facilitate early detection of infections. He also stressed that individuals who test positive must be linked to confirmatory testing and appropriate treatment services to ensure better health outcomes and improve their quality of life.

The Integrated Health Campaign focuses on screening for HIV, syphilis, tuberculosis (TB), hepatitis B and hepatitis C. Individuals with reactive screening results will be referred for confirmatory testing and subsequently linked to appropriate treatment and care facilities under the National AIDS Control Programme (NACP), National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) and National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme (NVHCP).

The campaign will cover 40 villages and sites under the Tizit area through main and extended camps, along with selected sites in the Naginimora area, from October 30 to November 22, 2026.

The initiative aims to improve access to essential health screening services at the grassroots level, particularly in high-priority and underserved areas, while strengthening community awareness, early diagnosis, timely referral and continuity of treatment.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Nokmao K, President of the Tizit Area Students' Union (TASU). DISHA, Mon, and its partner departments have urged the public to actively participate in the campaign and avail themselves of the screening services. They emphasised that early testing, timely treatment and continued care are essential for building healthier and more informed communities.
