The Nagaland Strongman & Fitness Association (NSFA) today honoured four medal winners of the 1st North East Strongman and Strongwoman championship held in Shillong, Meghalaya.

Er. Zale Neikha, advisor, youth resources & sports handed over the commendation to the four medalists at the felicitation programme held here at Grace Higher Secondary School auditorium. Er. Zale acknowledged the notable act of the Association in bringing laurel to the state.

Stressing on the importance of health, he said it is the most valuable and precious thing for every individual in life.

Stating that good health is the state of complete physical, mental, social and spiritual well being without any suffering, he said “Nowadays everybody is conscious about their health and wants to be fit throughout life. Along with the rest of the country, our state has also pledged to join hands and participate in the Fit India Movement.”

From a sportsman point of view, fitness is something that cannot be compromised at any point of time, he said adding that fitness can be attained through regular training and exercise.

An athlete with required skills but without much needed fitness  cannot  give good results continuously, he said adding that skills are known to be harnessed and developed as the years go by, but fitness is required to compliment the skills that a person has for him/her to succeed.

“For any sportsman to consistently perform at any event, staying fit is a necessity,” Er. Neikha said.

Further, the advisor urged the Association and its members not only to focus on staying fit and healthy, but also broaden our outlook and focus on weight lifting, arm wrestling, boxing, “for I feel there is a fair scope for us to excel in this area.”

It may be recalled that Vizobilie Punyü and Kevilelie Pienyü bagged gold in below 80 Kgs and 90 Kgs category respectively at the championship. Sedevizo Keretsü and Tsuknungaküm Jamir who also secured silver and bronze medal in the below 100 Kgs category and open class category were also honoured at the programme.

NSFA president Keduovilie Zumu said that NSFA was formed in 2017 to promote fitness in the state. The Association has so far conducted Hornbill International Strongman and Fitness competition event two times.

NSFA will also be organizing a similar event for the third time this year wherein it will witness participants from north eastern states.
