DIMAPUR, MARCH 29 (MExN): The construction works of 2-lane Dhansiri Bridge between Shozukhu and Zukihe has been held up because of the obstruction caused by 11 KV power lines which passes right above the bridge. This allegation has come from the Khaghaboto Kukami Kuqhakulu (KKK).
According to the chairman of the Sumi organization Jacob Zhimomi, M/s Pabscon, – the contractor demanded that the high tension power line be relocated elsewhere and stopped the work after a female laborer was critically electrocuted in the early part of March this year.
Feeling the need for early and timely completion, Jacob Zhimomi approached the electrical department for relocation of the power lines, to which the department responded that the department of PWD (Road & Bridges) should deposit earnest money to Power department for relocation of the power lines.
However, till now PWD (Road & Bridges) or M/s Pabscon Co. has not taken any initiative to work out a solution and allow resumption of work at the site, it is alleged. Apparently both PWD (Road & Bridges) and M/s Pabscon Co. are keeping silent and expecting one another to come to the rescue and because of which the project is getting much delayed.
Stating that the people of Khaghaboto area are getting infuriated over the delay of the project, Jacob has urged both PWD (Road & Bridges) and M/s Pabscon Co. to work in tandem and arrive to a decision over the issue of relocating the power lines and resume the works at the earliest.
Time and again the construction work of the bridge had been stopped owing to various reasons and this time too if the work do not resume before the rainy seasons sets in it, the people of Khaghaboto area would have to suffer for another year, Jacob said. He further stated that the KKK would go to higher authorities and question the credibility of the parties concerned and even press the concerned department to stop making payments.
He has urged the parties concerned to work out a solution to relocate power lines and resume the works before the monsoon season starts.
