UKHRUL | May 11 : People need a “good Government”, said P. Chidambaram, Union Home Minister Government of India while addressing the jam-packed New Ukhrul Mini Secretariat Conference Hall today morning during his first time visit in Ukhrul District Headquarter in an auspicious inauguration Ceremony of the newly constructed “Ukhrul District Mini Secretariat” building as the Chief Guest in presence of the Manipur Chief Minister, O.Ibobi Singh along with Works Minister, K. Ranjit Singh.
The Union Home Minister, PC. emphasized clearly the need of the people cutting across from all anti-social element activities or violence that the peace people longing for; it is the Government that can give a good road connectivity, Health Care, Office buildings, education of schools and colleges, securities can only be provided by the Government in a democratic land and thus he lamented that people need a good Government indeed to look after the welfare of the citizens. He also said that the newly inaugurated Ukhrul District Mini Secretariat is the “house of all Ukhrul District Level Officers”. He said that he was truly touched by the warm reception of the people with Ukhrul town turning-out the place of parents, children, teachers. On being heard some of the Departments are functioning well and some not yet well, he asked and urged that all the departments of Manipur State Government to function well and in the matter of Ukhrul District, he recommended that all District Level Officers' Offices to function in the new Mini-secretariat building in Compact dealings.
He also learnt that Ukhrul District needed two more Primary Health Centres, One more Kendrya Vidyala School for the poor families especially orphanages with adequate girls’ Hostel facilities. In police Departments, he said six stations with few policemen without arms be upgraded to the stations with 40-60 Policemen with arms for the Safety Security of the people of the District. He also asserted that in India money is not the matter but the only matter is the complete dedication of the people to bring any sort of good development. He learnt an un-satisfactory note over the slow-pace Development on the on-going construction of 50-bedded- Ukhrul District Hospital from the Government reports. He assured that within 60km from Ukhrul District Hq. village connectivity roads be black-topped. The Chief Minister,of Manipur State O.Ibobi Singh said that in addition to the devolution of Autonomous District Council (ADC) powers, he said that the old Ukhrul DC Office building is allotted for the smooth functioning of Ukhrul ADCs Office building with recently allocated a sum of Rupees 5 Crore each in district-wise sanctioned meant for the office renovation infra-structures and repair of their (ADCs) apartments damaged during the election time.
The Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul District had given a presentation to the Chief Guest, Union Home Minister, Chief Minister, I.Hemochandra, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly,K. Ranjit, Works Minister, DD.Thaisii,Minister,YAS, Gaikhangam, President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Commitee,Dr. Khashim Ruivah, MLA Chingai Contituency, Danny Shaiza, MLA, Ukhrul Constituency, L. Shangam, Chairman of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (ADC), H.Henry Senapati ADC Chairman, LP.Golmei, Principle Secretary(Power), Ram Muivah, Principle Secretary (Works), Godesshore Singh, Advocate General and some of the VIPS participated in the occasion. The grand function was conducted by Ram Muivah who spoke that few in many politician these days appear like lt. Yangmaso Shaiza, former CM of Manipur and Dr.Ester Zingkhai, Principle of Blue Berry School, Ukhrul whereas the vote of thanks was delivered by the DC, Ukhrul N. Ashok Kumar (IAS).
