‘Protest against EPIC photography exercise was an uncivilized approach’

Dimapur, June 17 (MExN): The Northern Angami Public Organisation (NAPO) has termed the protest against the ongoing EPIC photography exercise at Industrial Village Razhüphe, Dimapur in connection with the change of nomenclature of polling station No.11 & 12 at 2-Dimapur II A/C as protest as uncivilized approach since the issue in question is a subject matter of the State Government and the Election Commission.
“ The Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO) as responsible Organization for its members, compel to bring this statement to the notice of the public without prejudice to any individual or group of people,” sated the general secretary and president of NAPO, Zhasalie Soliezuo  and Vilie-o Rutsa, in a press note.
It also stated: “… in this civilized society anyone who has been deprived of his interest by the decision of such re-demarcation may ventilate their demands through civilized approach and not through the means of violence and taking individualization. Therefore, the present movement against the Government program at Industrial Village Razhüphe, Dimapur and personalizing any individual through statements as well as action are condemnable.”
The NAPO, therefore extend our fullest support to the State Government authority, particularly the district administration, Dimapur to protect the larger interest of the people and ensure the voters to get EPIC done on time. Further, appeal all the right thinking citizens to stand by the decision of the Government and let the electorates right of the people in this particular area be not disturbed by any outside forces. We anticipate the State Government to oversee the situation in bringing back to normalcy.
“The organization has categorically responded to the statement in various articles published in the local dailies, express our concern over the personalization of its member by threatening his personal life by the youths of the so called, six colonies. It is a fact that T.L.Angami hails from the Northern Angami and an elderly person from amongst the Angami community and permanently settled at Dimapur, Industrial Village Razhüphe. The very fact of the change of nomenclature is not a made of an individual person but a decision of the government, which was accorded by the Election Commission through the Government of the State. Therefore, any challenges or targeting to any of its members will be deemed to have an indirect effect to the organization as a whole. As such, the residents of these areas are requested not to hamper the peaceful co-existence among the community. Any persons taking undue situation in mobilizing the general public with an intention to suppress any minority group or individual by taking law into their own hands may, otherwise invite communal chaos anywhere.”
It has stated that any grievances by anybody should approach the government for remedial measures instead of resorting to violence. Hence the Northern Angami Public Organization appeals to the public of the concerned areas to maintain peace and tranquility and allow Law of the land to takes its course to deliver justice to all.

Dimapur EPIC issue: Admin accused of “failure”

Dimapur, June 17 (MExN):
A local Angami organization has charged the Dimapur district administration of ‘failing to prevent the mob agitators’ in the June 13 standoff in Dimapur during agitations by Dimapur citizens protesting change in the designations of two polling stations. The organization, Chakhro Angami Kuda Youth Organization (CAYO) said the incident “reflects the incapability of the administrators, hence the state government should depute an efficient capable office administrator to handle the crises.”
A statement from the CAYO questioned, “Why DC Dimapur failed to control” the “agitators miscrime.” Claiming that the district administration “failed” to heed to appeals, the organization demanded “immediate action” against the “agitators miscrime who had come from outside of IVR” and obstructed the EPIC process. The CAYO even claimed “Angami traditional land.” The organization attacked DC “Moan Wati” by stating that he treated “Angami tribal land” as “Assam land” and had issued “thousands” of “Jammabandi/Patta book” to his “yes men.”  The CAYO denounced the “agitators miscrime” and said “we will counter and reciprocate in  befitting manner” and protect what it claimed as “our traditional land.”
