WSSU appeals

Dimapur, April 27 (MExN):
The Western Sumi Students’ Union (WSSU) urges the state government and the department of Higher Education, Nagaland to look into the grievance of K. Dennis Achumi who, after successfully passing out exam and interview conducted by Personal and Administrative Reforms Department for a vacant post of LDA-cum-Computer Assistant under Dimapur district on October 2, has been transferred to other district even before attending his first day of office. “The WSSU is of the view that the concerned department has not done justice to K. Dennis Achumi and is apparent that it is an anomaly on the part of department and K. Dennis Achumi has become a victim of influence and manipulation which have infested our state machinery,” stated a press note issued by Daniel Sumi, president, WSSU.

NNC Lotha Region condoles

Dimapur, April 27 (MExN):
NNC Lotha Region has mourned the demise of late Lakhum. In a condolence note issued by its vice president, Yilow Humtsoe stated: “… keeping in mind to reminisce the commendable deeds of Lt. Lakhum, a founding member of Naga National Council for his committed leadership and selfless service for the Nagas' cause, and proved him a worthy son of his motherland. There is no doubt about the fact that with his death, the country has lost a brave son. We hereby convey our deepest condolence message to the bereaved family and further prays to Almighty God to bless his descendents abundantly.”

NVFFA mourns late Temsutoshi demise

Dimapur, April 27 (MExN):
The Nagaland Veterinary Field Assistants’ Association has mourned the sudden demise of Temsutoshi SVFA Veterinary Hospital Mokokchung on April 20. The association in a condolence note stated that late Temsutoshi was a man of strong determination who worked tirelessly for the cause of the department and added that his demise was a great loss to the association and department in general. It has also conveyed its condolence to the bereaved family and prayed for the
departed soul.
 
Two arrested with arms
 
DIMAPUR, APRIL 27 (MExN): Personnel of the 24 Assam Rifles arrested two persons for illegal possession of firearms on April 26. According to a press release from the Additional Superintendent of Police, Dimapur, the arrests were made during security frisking conducted by the 24 AR at the Thahekhu village area. The arrested were indentified as one Tokiho Awomi, a self styled ‘Leacy’ of the GPRN/NSCN and a Kakhive Chishi.  The duo was riding a black coloured ‘Bajaj’ motorcycle without registration at the time of the arrest. “Three 7.65 MM pistol with six magazines were recovered from their possession. Investigation is on to check and verify the seized motorcycle”, the release stated.
