
Zeliangrong Region NNC prez clarifies
Dimapur, June 3 (MExN):The president of Zeliangrong Region of NNC (non Accordist), Kiwang Pame has withdrawn his witness signature on the allegation paper against VP Kiumukam, Dt 1st May, 2011. The president stated in a press note: “…this withdrawal comes on ground of lack of proved and evidence (sic).”
Monitoring Cell for EPIC/PER campaign
Dimapur, June 3 (DIPR): The Deputy Commissioner, Mon Dinesh Kumar IAS has notified that a Monitoring Cell is constituted in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mon in connection with EPIC/PER exercise in the district. This Monitoring Cell shall function as helpline centre for any kind of queries or information relating to EPIC/PER campaign. The Monitoring Cell shall be manned by the following officers: Hiazu Meru, SDO (C) -9436012850, Ilika Zhimomi, EAC (C) -9402697311 and Joybell, AEO - 9436203843.The officers shall be assisted by the following officers who will monitor the progress of the work in the Assembly Constituencies as allotted to them. TSL condemns May 27 incident
Dimapur, June 3 (MExN):The Tangkhul Shanao Long (Tangkhul Womens’League) has condemned the heinous crime of attempt on the life of Imtila Jamir, by Worshim Tangkhul and accomplice on May 27, 2011. A condemnation note issued by Silla J. Konghay, president and S.Asha, general secretary, TSL stated, “We are shocked that such acts, aside from being cowardly and highly condemnable by itself, was targeted at an upstanding Naga woman. We are deeply pained that such acts of wanton and senseless violence are perpetrated at a time when all Nagas have resolutely unified their voices for peace and justice.” TSL demanded the appropriate authorities that the perpetrators of such acts are immediately brought to book. We also urge upon the Tangkhul community in particular not to harbor the would be assassin, rather help the law enforcing authorities to nab the culprit and let the law of the land prevail. At the same time, we also appeal to all Nagas to collectively work towards preventing such actions in the future, irrespective of tribal backgrounds and political ideologies.
Contraband drugs seized
Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): The Excise Narcotic enforcement duty party led by Thathang AIE, Ikiho H/c, Senka and Ketoshe, both constables seized 210 kgs of contraband Ganja on June 1, 2011 from Pherima, N.H 29. In this connection two persons- Sede Luho and T. James have been arrested and remanded in to judicial custody under relevant section of NDPS Act 1985. In yet another detection, the Excise Narcotic enforcement duty party seized 1857 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon on May 25, 2011 and arrested on person from Diphupar and remanded the accused to judicial custody under relevant section of Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940. This has been informed in a press note issued by the office of the Commissioner Excise, Nagaland.
Four arrested with ammunitions, illegal drugs
Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): Police personnel manning Khuzama check gate intercepted a Tata Winger bearing registration No. MN-04-3387 on June 2 at around 11:30 pm and arrested four people.
The police recovered 350 rounds of AK47, 200 rounds of 9 mm ammunitions and two packets of illegal drugs of about 30 grams from the possession of four occupants of the said vehicle.
The accused are Sunita Anal (40 yrs), W/o. Thomgpa, Vill/PO/PS- Shuknu, Dist- Chandel, P/A- Old Chinkong, Imphal, Thompa Anal (54 yrs), S/o. Mote, Vill/PO/PS- Shuknu, Dist- Chandel, P/A- Old Chinkong, Imphal, Thengno Lamkang (50 yrs), D/o. Kote, Vill- Khunkha, PO/PS/Dist- Chandel, P/A- Dimdilong Colony, Imphal and Tonu Lamkang (22 yrs), D/o. Mote Lamkang, Vill- Khunkha, PO/PS/Dist- Chandel, P/A- Dimdilong Colony, Imphal.
In this connection, Khuzama PS has registered a case (No. 0012/11 U/S. 25 (1) (A) Arms Act R/W Sec. 13 D.C. Act) and investigation taken up for further details.
