Maligaon, July 12 (MExN): The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) recovered over 15 kg of ganja worth around Rs 7.6 lakh, seized 185 bottles of liquor and rescued seven minor children during a series of operations conducted across its jurisdiction on July 7 and 8.
According to the NFR, the operations were carried out in coordination with the Government Railway Police (GRP), the Excise Department, Child Welfare authorities and other law enforcement agencies as part of efforts to strengthen passenger security and curb unlawful activities.
During the drive, RPF personnel recovered more than 15 kg of ganja from different railway stations under the NFR.

In separate cases, 185 bottles of liquor worth over Rs 20,000 were seized from trains and railway premises, and the offenders were apprehended and handed over to the concerned authorities for legal action.
The RPF also intensified its crackdown on theft and other criminal activities by apprehending several persons involved in mobile phone theft cases.
Seven stolen mobile phones collectively valued at around Rs 1.04 lakh were recovered and handed over to the GRP for further legal proceedings.
As part of its humanitarian initiatives, the RPF rescued seven minor children, including six boys and one girl, from different railway stations across the NFR and handed them over to the respective Child Welfare Committees and Child Help Desks for care and rehabilitation.

The force said the timely interventions helped prevent the children from possible exploitation and ensured their safety.
In another incident, RPF personnel provided immediate assistance to an elderly ailing passenger at a railway station.
The passenger was identified through available documents, administered first aid at the Railway Health Unit and later shifted to a higher medical facility by railway ambulance under RPF escort. The passenger's family members were also informed.
The NFR said the operations reflect the RPF's continued commitment to ensuring passenger safety, protecting railway property, preventing unlawful activities and providing timely assistance to passengers in distress.
